U.S. Supreme Court to consider if undocumented immigrants get bond hearings
According to this article on San Francisco Chronicle, by Bob Egelko
“In a case from the Bay Area, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to take up the government’s appeal of a ruling that allowed undocumented immigrants to seek release on bond after six months in custody while challenging their deportation.
The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled in April 2020 that the bond hearings were required for immigrants who had been arrested, or turned themselves in, after entering the United States and who claimed credibly that they would face persecution or torture in their homeland.”
