“In 2016, Donald Trump was elected president after campaigning on a promise to would build a wall across the border between the United States and Mexico. He didn’t complete a wall prior losing the 2020 election, but the situation at the border has remained in the news — with a record number of migrant crossings and arrests reported.

With Mexico agreeing to work with the U.S. to create smart border technology, the future of what the border wall might look like is up in the air.

Currently, America’s “border wall” is a series of piecemeal barriers that vary in size, shape and age. Sections of “wall” include low fences; high barriers; dividers with steel slats; and areas with checkpoints and pedestrian passages. Other parts of the border have no structures at all, demarcated instead by rivers or mountains.”
