Naturalization ceremony to honor Independence Day

“The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will hold a special naturalization ceremony at George Washington’s Mount Vernon at 11 a.m. on July 4. This ceremony is being held in honor of Independence Day. Mount Vernon President and CEO Doug Bradburn will deliver opening remarks, USCIS Washington District Director Ron Rosenberg will administer the Oath of Allegiance and an actor portraying General Washington will give an address to the new citizens.

The 33 citizenship candidates originate from the following 28 countries: Bolivia, Bulgaria, Canada, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, France, Honduras, Iran, Jamaica, South Korea, Lebanon, Mauritania, Mexico, Moldova, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Sudan, Turkey and Vietnam.

USCIS will celebrate the 245th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our country by welcoming more than a thousand new citizens in more than 100 naturalization ceremonies across the country. USCIS naturalized approximately 625,000 people in fiscal year 2020.”
