“(The Center Square) – Republican Govs. Greg Abbot of Texas and Doug Ducey of Arizona are hosting nine governors in Mission, Texas, Wednesday to denounce President Joe Biden’s policies leading to a surge in illegal immigration at the southern border.

“Texas and Arizona have stepped up to secure the border in the federal government’s absence, and now the Emergency Management Assistance Compact gives your state a chance to stand strong with us,” Ducey and Abbott said in a joint statement this summer. Both governors issued disaster and emergency declarations in their states earlier this year, citing increased crime and financial strains on county governments and law enforcement because of the surge in illegal immigration due to Biden’s policies.”

According to this article on NM Political Report, by Susan Dunlap

“The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that President Joe Biden has the authority to end the Trump-era immigration policy forbidding asylum seekers from entering the U.S.

On its final day of the 2020-2021 term, the Supreme Court agreed with Biden in Biden v. Texas that he has the authority to end former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, also known as the Migration Protection Protocols. The policy has prevented asylum seekers from entering the U.S.

Biden is still fighting, separately, the ability to end Title 42, which put controls on asylum seekers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Trump issued that policy in the spring of 2020, saying at the time that he was protecting human health. The Biden administration has tried to lift Title 42 this year but a Louisiana federal court blocked the move in May.”

Good Immigration News On Green Cards And Afghan Parole

Published

on

According to this article on Forbes, by Stuart Anderson | Senior Contributor

“Action in Congress on green cards and an administrative change on humanitarian parole by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has injected a rare bit of good news on immigration policy. The coming weeks will reveal if the news remains positive.

Humanitarian Parole: When the Biden administration decided to follow through on Donald Trump’s agreement with the Taliban to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan, the central government in Kabul fell too quickly for many Afghans to escape to safety.

Biden officials used parole authority to bring tens of thousands of Afghans to America. However, that still left many other Afghans in danger.”
