“Ramon Castro, a U.S. veteran, started walking a 2,000-mile trek Monday morning — from Friendship Park in San Ysidro to the end of the U.S. border near Brownville, Texas — to honor deported veterans.

Castro, who served in the Marine Corps for eight years and was in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom, is a Brawley City Council member. He recently learned about the United States deporting some of its non-citizen veterans after what some say are minor crimes.”
