One thing about being a proponent of political division is that is always backfires on you. It’s just a matter of when. If you are a talk show host, less so, because there’s no election to lose, your bosses at the TV station can overlook your fall, even as they plan for your eventual exit on their spreadsheet charts of profit/loss.
Such may not be the case for Lou Dobbs yet, but he’s still going to have to endure some tough questions, maybe even some legal issues. If the tables were turned, exactly what would he be insisting on? Guess what, The Nation is running a story that claims Mr. Dobbs “Dobbs has relied for years on undocumented labor for the upkeep of his multimillion-dollar estates and the horses he keeps for his 22-year-old daughter, Hillary, a champion show jumper.”
The article goes on to say:
“Commenting on this scapegoating of undocumented workers, Hinojosa-Ojeda remarked, “The irony is that the biggest users of services of the undocumented are affluent white people.” In the case of Lou Dobbs, who made his name and his fortune lambasting “illegals” and their employers, the irony is breathtaking.”
